Abstract
Sistem perpipaan bertekanan tinggi pada industri minyak dan gas menuntut kualitas sambungan las yang optimal. Penelitian ini menganalisis pengaruh variasi arus pengelasan SMAW (70A–130A) terhadap jenis, ukuran, dan distribusi cacat internal pada sambungan butt joint pipa ASTM A106 Grade B posisi 2G
menggunakan elektroda BOHLER E7018-H4R. Inspeksi dilakukan dengan Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) sesuai standar ASME Section V dan dievaluasi berdasarkan ASME B31.3. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa arus rendah (V1) menghasilkan 15 indikasi dengan dominasi cacat Planar (lack of fusion, incomplete
penetration) dan rejection rate 46,7%, sedangkan arus tinggi (V3) menghasilkan 11 indikasi didominasi cacat Volumetric (porosity cluster) dengan rejection rate 54,5%. Arus menengah (V2) menghasilkan indikasi paling sedikit (9 indikasi) dengan rejection rate 0%. Rentang arus optimal yang direkomendasikan adalah root 85A, hot pass 100A, filler 120A, dan capping 110A, dengan heat input berkisar 1,05–2 kJ/mm.
